APPLICATION FOR HUNTING ON FRIENDS OF SAX-ZIM BOG (FOSZB) PROPERTY
Friends of Sax-Zim Bog is a 501c3 property-tax-paying Minnesota non-profit. Our land is preserved and protected for future generations, as stated in our Mission statement.
We need to have an application process so we can monitor what consumptive activities that are taking place on our private property. This is especially important from a legal/insurance standpoint.
We are not anti-hunting. Many of our Board, Staff, Volunteers and Members are dedicated hunters. We recognize that hunting can be a valued and responsible use of the land.
We also have over 1,000 acres of land that is currently open to public hunting by the fact that those acres are under a Minnesota DNR Conservation Easement that allows public hunting. This application is still required for these lands, but they will be automatically approved. You may request a map of these properties.
Additionally, over 90% of our land is held as a Federal Wetland Bank and is therefore subject to strict regulations established by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Minnesota DNR’s Board of Water & Soil Resources. These are federal and state requirements that all land users are legally obligated to follow. You may request a map of these properties (These Wetland Bank parcels have been private property since 2014.)
We strive to be a good neighbor to our community and ask that hunters and visitors help us maintain this positive relationship through respectful and responsible use of the land. We appreciate responsible hunters who share our respect for the land and wildlife. Your cooperation helps us continue to balance conservation with compatible recreational activities.

At any time, even during deer season, a visitor may walk on our property, and they may accidentally disturb someone in your hunting party. This visitor has as much right to be there as you or your deer hunting party, and as such you or your party may not confront said visitor.
